It says " A collection of relaxed beats and laid-back grooves" on the cover. And that about sums it up. Don' t let the cover fool you… it' s not a Summer Party Mix of sorts. Yes, it' s the Ministry of Sound label, but they do more than just Clubbers Guides and Dance Floor Compilations.
Get this double CD, invite friends to dinner and casually slip one of the 2 CD' s into the player. You' ll soon have the dinner conversation change to people wanting to know what' s playing in the background, earning you the title of Perfect Host for even planning the music this well.
Or if traffic gets too hectic and it feels like you' re ready to try out some emergency lane driving, put this on… you' ll soon see why it' s called the Chillout Sessions.
It' s " light a few candles, pour a glass of champagne and submerge a tired body in a tub of hot water and luxurious bubble bath" type of music.
This is certainly not a CD that will appeal to the masses… not a lot of familiar artists or tunes on either disk, but don' t let that put you off. You might recognize names like Groove Armada (their " At the River" featured on Disk 1 is still one of the best laid-back songs ever), Basement Jaxx, Röyksopp, Stereophonics and Mylo. Everyone knows Katie Melua and she definitively adds to the chill factor with " Just Like Heaven."
But it' s when you hear UK Christmas Number 1 " JCB Song" by Nizlopi that the need for an album like this in your collection starts making sense. Discover artists you' ve never heard of… discover sounds you thought you' d never like… discover Boomclick, José Gonzaléz, Kristin Hersh, Tina Dico and more… discover the magic of Ministry of Sound' s Chillout Sessions 2.
