If you’ve never heard of Savage Garden, where have you been the last 9 or 10 years? But for the uninitiated, how can the sound of Savage Garden be decribed? Roxette meets Pet Shop Boys? Erasure meets Texas? Darren Hayes meet Daniel Jones? Who?

Darren and Daniel, the 2 guys who made up Savage Garden, really managed to cram a lot of hits into their relative short career span as a band. On this CD, you’ll find 17 hits altogether, including 2 new songs, strangely only featuring the vocals of Darren Hayes who launched a successful solo career after the band’s split. This is the band who brought us catchy party favourites and radio-friendly pop tunes like “I want you,” “To the moon and back,” “The Animal Song” and “Affirmation.” But they’re also the band that opened a thousand weddings’ dance floors with “I knew I loved you” and “Truly Madly Deeply.” Listening to this CD, one can easily understand the hold this band had on their fans and on radio playlists. New Darren Hayes track “So Beautiful,” echoes the appeal and one can only hope that he goes on from here to keep the sound of Savage Garden alive, even if it is using his own name. The amazing thing is that with this CD, you get a bonus disk featuring the videos to some of the hits on the album, as well as a documentary. Great value in anyone’s book.
