Okay, if, like in the magazine business, covers are going to sell the product, this will sell by the bucketload. Fortunately, the content will back up your decision to purchase. A lot of people thought Shakira was going to be a bit of a flash in the pan when she released her first album a few years ago. Surely a pretty face like this will not be around for a few years? Wrong…
Shakira’s back… not with one of the greatest album titles ever, but back nonetheless.
It’s her second English-language studio album and again sees her fuse South American pop with traditional dance sounds. Written and produced by Shakira, the recording also includes a collaboration with Carlos Santana on the track 'Illegal'. By now, there should only be about 3 singers who haven’t done something with Santana.
Most of the songs have great melodies which stick in your head… some of it get too much with the first listen, but as the album grows on you, you could be forgiven for tapping your feet or moving along rhythmically, dare we say, even suggestively. Make sure you’re in the privacy of your own home when you’re listening to this. Then again, make someone’s day in peak hour traffic… put it on.
