1-on-1 with andrew

1. Most embarrassing moment on-air.

I was doing the lunch time show back in my community radio days and introduced the news reader going into news only to be told after the bulletin that I had called her by someone else’s name. Damn!
2. Which do you prefer: Bondi beach/Alpine snowy slopes/African bush.

Well, having had the experience of going to Bondi Beach, I will happily decline the invitation.

I can't say I enjoy the freezing cold of winter or that of a snowy slope – although the thought of a log cabin with a crackling fire place and my beloved close by might just allure me...

So it would have to be the African Bush. The sounds of the insects and animals, the rustling of the bushveld and trees; the distinct smell of the bush and the tranquil feeling of serenity. (Ok, so we won't mention the mosquito's alright...)

3. Any phobias?

I HATE spiders and don't like creepy crawlies much.
4. Knowing that millions of people are listening, tell us what it feels like to be behind the microphone?

As if I am the ultimate power in the Universe!! Nah, just kidding!
Initially I was very intimidated with the knowledge that thousands upon thousands of people are listening to me, but now I am able to relax and focus on one person listening and to chat as if we were buddies.
5. What car do you drive at the moment and what is your dream car?

Current: VW Polo. My dream car - well there are a few: A 1985 Ferrari 308 GTS QV in Rosso Red (Magnum's Ferrari).

That would be my 'run around' car. Other than that, any Formula One racing car that is entered into the current F1 season with me as their driver...

6. Where is your favourite holiday spot?

Not too fussed – Any place that I can just relax and take it easy.
7. What kind of food do you enjoy and can you cook it yourself?

I enjoy eating most types of food – as long as the dish is appetising and tasty – I usually enjoy it. Bonus is that I do enjoy cooking – I find it fulfilling and relaxing, so yes I would be able to cook it! I'll be the Chief Cook as long as someone else takes on the job of Chief Bottle Washer.
8. What is the sure fire thing that gets you to feel good, relaxed and chilled?

A quiet, non-stressed environment with my lady nearby, as well as satellite TV, internet and decent hi-fi system. (I have to have my modern amenities close at hand!)
9. Tell us something you think no-one knows about you.

Now that would be telling...Okay, okay so it's my Tibetan-Himalayan-Swiss influenced yodel with a Canadian twang - would put Heidi and Celine to shame!

10. The one place in the world you would like to visit and why?

Monaco during the build-up and race of the Monaco F1 Grand Prix. I would like
to experience the atmosphere and sounds of the cars as they reflect off of the buildings in and around the twisty street circuit that makes up the Monaco GP, while quietly observing the 'hoity toity' as they walk by.
