This debut album of Shayne is packed with great ballads that will find favour with pop music fans… but definitely more with the girls.

Guys, beware… you are gonna play second fiddle for a while if the lady in your life gets her hands on this CD…
That means you’ll probably be compared to Mr Ward for a few days… it means you might even be called Shayne in a desperate attempt from her side to distance herself from reality… then again, it also means you’ll have some more time to watch the rugby without being interrupted… maybe go out with the boys…
But who the hell is Shayne Ward? He shot to fame on a UK reality television show called X-Factor and then earned a huge hit with the release of his first single, “That's My Goal" which went straight to Number 1 in the UK over Christmas last year. In fact, the song was so huge, it became the UK’s second biggest selling single of 2005. And if it was his goal to earn himself a Brit Award nomination for Best Single, he even managed getting that right. He even entered the Guinness World Record book for the most downloaded track in one day.
This debut album of Shayne is packed with great ballads that will find favour with pop music fans… but definitely more with the girls. Also featured on the album is current hit and Jacaranda 94.2 listeners’ favourite “No Promises,” as well as a cover version of Brian McKnight's “Back At One.” The set of 13 tracks perfectly showcase Shayne's voice and emotional range. And don't mistake Shayne's debut album as a once-off success for the singer. But will Shayne Ward still be around a year or two down the line? He is quoted as saying “I'd like people to see that I'm not just a talent show winner, that I can actually sing. I'd like to be seen as successful in my own right now.” If that is true, the artist should really consider evolving a little on album number 2… because judging by this album, things tend to get a bit boring after a while with a formula of “verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-key change-chorus (repeated until the end)” evident on almost all the songs…
Not that that will bother the ladies… They’ll stare into his eyes on the CD cover… they’ll swoon… they’ll listen to it over and over again… and the guys? They’ll have control of the remote control for a while…
