In 1994 a band emerged out of Stellenbosch that would change the South African music scene forever. They were young, talented and even had a name that raised conservative eyebrows.
13 Years later after a short hiatus in 2001 The Springbok Nude Girls are back not only with the album the fans have been waiting for but with probably their best work to date.
Peace Breaker is the aptly titled latest edition in the Springbok Nude Girls saga. Breaking their silence after 6 years and promising to once again break down stages all across the country. Listening to this album, it’s easy to see that 4 triple platinum selling albums, 5 top 10 hits, three South African Music awards and constant touring have moulded these 5 members into the well oiled rock hit machine that has created Peace Breaker.
It’s not an album for the faint-hearted, but if you have had a taste of the Nudies elixir somewhere along the line, I can guarantee you will enjoy this album. The first thing that catches your ear is that the quality of sound is of an international standard. It was recorded by guitarist Theo Crous at his studios in Cape Town, and then mastered at Sterling Sound in New York.
These 14 tracks take you on a journey from the classic Nude Girls sound through to something new, fresh and innovative. Hard, soft, melancholy and exciting, this album will be a proud trophy in many a SA music lovers CD rack.
