Things that mean something to John Mayer the musician he thinks everyone should be aware of. Another is that Eric Clapton knows I steal from him and is still cool with it. But the best one is left for last and makes the most sense. My fans keep me honest. And that about sums up Continuum… honest music. Good honest music.

'Continuum' is the third album from American singer-songwriter sensation John Mayer and seems to be quite an apt title for this, his third studio album. Every element makes a return from previous efforts, but as he’s an artist blessed with an abundance of songwriting flair and talent, Mayer has taken his soulful, bluesy style to a whole new level. Critics agree that this album is sure to cement his reputation as one of the most talented songwriters of his generation. From the first single and opening track “Waiting on the world to change,” John makes no secret that his friends and him are not about to change. They’re quite happy with who they are and they’ll just be patient and wait for the world to change. Cool outlook to have.

I’d go as far as to say that the first 3 tracks on Continuum are the best on the album and some of the best songs Eric Clapton never recorded. Second song “I don’t trust myself (with loving you) speaks of a man who warns the new love of his life that she’s gotta take him as he is, faults and all, having gone through a lot of changes which molded him. But best track on Continuum and current listener favourite “Belief” proves why Mayer is held in high regard by his peers and more established musicians and why he’s been called the musical superman of his generation. “We’re never gonna win the world. We’re never gonna stop the war. We’re never gonna beat this. If belief is what we’re fighting for.”

Listening to the album a few times, it becomes clear why Mayer won two Grammy awards for Pop Vocal Album for Continuum and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for "Waiting on the World to Change" at the 49th Grammy Awards in February 2007. In the middle of the CD booklet, there’s a double page photo of what seems to be a recording studio. A chair, speakers, lots of recording equipment, mixing desk and more. But John Mayer believes this is what he heart looks like. And if this is the case, feel free to continue speaking from the heart John…
