BLACK COUNTRY FORCED TO CHANGE NAME

Black Country have to change their name. This is because there's already band using that one. Right now, the quartet - Glenn Hughes (vocals/bass), Joe Bonamassa (guitar), Derek Sherinian (keyboards) and Jason Bonham (drums) - are recording their as yet untitled debut album with South African producer Kevin Shirley.

'SCREAMING' MELVINS

A new Melvins album is to be released by Ipecac in early June. It's titled 'The Bride Screamed Murder'.

DRAGONFORCE SINGER LEAVES

Dragonforce singer ZP Theart of South Africa has left the band, due to 'insurmountable musical differences'. The search for a replacement is already on. Interested? Go to www.dragonforce.com/audition

LIPS PLOT NEW MOVIE

The Flaming Lips are filming a new movie. It's to be directed by frontman Wayne Coyne in their home state of Oklahoma.

EXTREME ARE 'ALIVE'

Extreme, the Boston band, are to release a live CD/DVD on April 23 through Frontiers. It's titled 'Take Us Alive', and was filmed/recorded at the House Of Blues in Boston last August.

FOOS TO BE BUTCH-ERED

The Foo Fighters are to work with producer Butch Vig on their seventh album. No further news is available just yet.
