Cosatu threatens Nedbank Golf Challenge

Cosatu has threatened a work stoppage and road block at Sun City in December over unaddressed work grievances.

Spokesperson Madito Molebalwa says if their demands are not met, no traffic will be able to enter the resort for the Nedbank Million Dollar golf challenge.

The march is planned to start on the 3 December early in the morning and they plan to camp outside the entrance until late at night.

Cosatu represents about 95% of workers at Sun City and none of them are expected to show for work that weekend.

Molebaiwa says the workers have various grievances including an incident where a number of employees were strip-searched when money of a guest went missing.

"Cosatu calls on all workers at Sun City to down tools on the day in question and it openly warns all who are being prepared to work as casuals on that day not try [the] working force's patience as they will be endangering their own lives," the statement said.
