A PRICELESS moment in South African history

Today marks the anniversary of the 1995 Rugby World Cup final where the Springboks clinched an all important victory.

On this day, 19 years ago, June 24 1995 at Ellis Park stadium, Joel Stransky's drop goal during the second half of extra time sealed a victory that South Africa will never forget.
 
The match finished at 9-9 but in regulation time, Stransky delivered the drop goal that was not only a victory for the Springboks but a victory for a Rainbow Nation.
 
The country's first black president Nelson Mandela came out to support the Springboks in his Springboks jersey.
 
This gesture and moment in history has symbolised the power of sport in unifying people of different backgrounds, races and age groups.
