ANOTHER MOTION TO IMPEACH ZUMA - DA leader Mmusi Maimane brought notice of a motion of impeachment against President Jacob Zuma for allowing Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir to leave the country in defiance of a court order.

Maimane says Cabinet disregarded South Africa’s legal obligations to the International Criminal Court when it granted Al-Bashir immunity while attending the African Union summit in South Africa in June.

The DA would move to have the motion debated in the National Assembly on August 18.

The ANC responded to the motion, saying that it is a publicity stunt that is not worthy of serious consideration. They also gave their support to government, who decided to appeal the High Court decision regarding al-Bashir's arrest.

MALEMA CASE STRUCK OFF ROLL - EFF leader Julius Malema commended the country's judiciary system today after his case had been struck of the roll by Judge George Motle in the High Court in Polokwane.

He faced charges of corruption and racketeering, but the case was struck off the roll because it was taking too long and prejudiced the Malema, who was ready to proceed with the matter.

MIDO MACIA - The trial against eight former police officers who stand accused of murdering Mozambican taxi driver Mido Macia continued today, after a ninth accused was acquitted

The defence of the eight accused argued that the injuries Macia sustained were as a result of his scuffle with police officers during his arrest and being dragged behind a police van, and not in police holding cells.
