SARS WOES: Former senior SA Revenue Service employees on Wednesday threatened legal action after a media briefing by Police Minister Nathi Nhleko outlining the Hawks' investigation into the existence of a so-called rogue spy unit at the revenue service. "The public statements today by the Ministers of Police and State Security on investigations by the Hawks into investigative units at the South African Revenue Service (SARS) is a violation of our rights to dignity and reputation," former acting SARS commissioner Ivan Pillay and former SARS group executive for strategy, risk and planning, Peter Richer, said in a joint statement. "We are left with no other option than to seek legal advice and to take appropriate action to defend ourselves. To date, all investigations that have been instituted against us, either by SARS or other state institutions, have never afforded us a fair opportunity to be heard or to have our side of the story represented." MINISTERS SPEAK OUT ON SARS INVESTIGATION: State security Minister David Mahlobo was part of Minister Nhleko's briefing on the SARS investigation. David Mahlobo said on Wednesday that equipment found during the investigation into the so-called SARS rogue spy unit is used to gather intelligence. Slindelo Masakane reports. 

SPY TAPES CASE RESUMES: The DA's bid to re-instate a myriad of charges against President Jacob Zuma enters its third and final day on Thursday. In 2009 the National Directorate of Public Prosecutions made the decision not to pursue fraud, racketeering and corruption charges against him. Maryke Vermaak reports from the Pretoria High court.

ELEPHANT TUSKS CONFISCATED: Police yesterday seized 23 elephant tusks at a business in Derdepoort, north of Pretoria. Private Investigator Paul O'Sullivan says a number of suspects were arrested during the raid and will appear on charges of trading in tusks. The raid was jointly conducted by the Hawks and O'Sullivan & Associates. The Big Buck Taxidermy, the company that was raided, was allegedly in the process of selling the tusks for at least R12 million.

GAUTENG PREMIER VISITS JACARANDAFM: Gauteng has a new police commissioner, Lieutenant-General, Deliwe De Lange. The Gauteng Premier, David Makhura is very confident that she will bring the energy needed to tackle the provinces alarming crime rate. General De Lange replaces acting commissioner, Eric Nkuna.

TED CRUZ BAD LIP SYNCHING VIDEO: A bad lip syncing video has surfaced online of 2016 presidential candidate, Ted Cruz. The makers muted the sound of several of Cruz's speeches and appearances, filling his lips with utter nonsense.
