Man escapes from Johannesburg court
Updated | By sibahle motha
The Johannesburg Magistrate's Court was locked down briefly on Tuesday after a prisoner reportedly escaped.
"A prisoner escaped before 12 so I am only letting court officials in," a security guard told News24.
The court building opened again shortly after noon.
A crowd gathered outside the court late on Tuesday morning. "They have been closed for a few minutes. From what I have heard, a prisoner escaped," said a hawker selling chips and sweets outside the court.
Correctional services officials declined to comment.
