MAMELODI PROTESTS: Taxi operators in Mamelodi have agreed to let Autopax operate in the area following days of violent protests. The agreement came last night following a meeting between Mayor of Tshwane Kgosientso Ramokgopa, Prasa CEO Lucky Montana and the taxi industry. The township was calm following violence over bus routes on which the Putco bus company previously operated, the Tshwane Metro police said. "Police will maintain strong presence until the normal situation is fully restored, there has been no violent incidents so far," said spokesman Superintendent Isaac Mahamba. Five people, including a bus driver, were injured after they were shot at inside a bus on Friday as taxi operators refused to allow the new operator, Autopax, to take over the lucrative routes previously operated by Putco for years. PROTEST MAJAKANENG: In the North West, Public Order Police are monitoring the situation on the N4 near the Sun City turn-off. Yesterday, six people were arrested during a protest that saw a truck torched. Cars were also pelted with stones by a group of young men, allegedly demanding that a local mine must employ them. Police spokesperson, Captain Paul Ramaloko says the situation has calmed down significantly.

 

 

 



TRUCK ACCIDENT: The N12 Eastbound in the Meadowlands area is closed to traffic following a truck collision just after the R24 split in the early hours of this morning. Metro Police say one of the two trucks caught fire immediately after the collision occurred. Ekurhuleni Metro police say one person was also seriously injured.



BILL COSBY'S SHOCKING REVELATION: To the US, where embattled comedian Bill Cosby admitted some 10 years ago, to having drugged at least one woman to have sex with her. This has emerged in court documents from 2005, which were unsealed yesterday following a long battle. It shows Cosby making the admission in a deposition while talking about an incident from 1976. He has been facing accusations of sexual assault by some 30 women over decades, but has so far escaped justice. Pieter van der Merwe reports...

Animated flick Inside Out has shown that humans indeed have more between the ears than dinosaurs and has beaten Jurassic World to the top of the box office over the week end, making more than 360 million rand in three days.
