ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said the infant and two adults were killed when their bakkie overturned near Ficksburg on Saturday night.

"Paramedics arrived on scene to find a bakkie lying on its side on a gravel road. Occupants from the bakkie were lying all around the scene. On assessment, paramedics found that six people had been travelling in the bakkie when it left the road and rolled multiple times."

The bodies of a man in his 40s and the infant were found lying several metres from the bakkie.

"Four other patients were found lying some distance away, two of them critically injured," Meiring said.

"Unfortunately, on route to hospital, one of the critically injured patients succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead."

Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann said that in Gauteng two men died and another was injured in an alleged hit and run accident in Garsfontein, Pretoria on Saturday night. One person died and two others were injured in Rooihuiskraal when a car and a light delivery vehicle crashed around 01:00 on Sunday.

In the Free State, a motorcyclist was injured in an accident on Benade Drive in Bloemfontein. Four men and a woman were injured when their car overturned about 40km from the city. Both accidents happened on Sunday morning, Steinmann said.
