LISTEN: Baragwanath emergency unit to be renovated
Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile
Gauteng Health spokesperson Steve Mabona says the unit has uneven floors.
“We are facing problems with uneven floors that cause damages to stretchers and wheel chairs hence we making sure we refurbish the area to continue our services,” he says.
Mabona says arrangements have been made with local hospitals where they will refer patients.
“We will be closing the area and we have made arrangements with Bheki Mlangeni Hospital and other local clinics, we will also be sending staff to these facilities to ensure that the staff there is not overwhelmed,” he says.
Mabona says this will ensure that the hospital is developed and not expose patients and staff to a hazardous environment.
