Woman killed as convertible crashes through fence

It is understood that the man driving the car, which veered off Brickhill Road and ploughed through a palisade fence onto a baseball field, was arrested on the scene.
Rescue Care spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said that paramedics arrived at the scene to find that the car had rolled several times.
“The car landed up on the pitch and the two women and the driver had been flung from the wreckage and medics found the three lying nearby. One of the woman was in a critical condition, having sustained severe head trauma,” he said.
“She was the priority and medics tried their best to stabilise her but her condition deteriorated at the scene and despite our attempts to resuscitate her, she succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead.”
Jamieson said the other woman, who had been seriously wounded, was taken by ambulance to a Durban hospital for “the medical care that she required”.
Metro police spokesperson Eugene Msomi could not be reached for comment at the time of publishing.
