Nxasana: NPA has no agenda against Jiba
"When I received a call from the national police commissioner [Riah Phiyega], to be honest I still don't know what was the reason for her call. She said the summons was not issued properly," Nxasana told journalists at the National Prosecuting Authority's office in Pretoria.
"I'm still battling to understand what it is that she wanted from me.
I am talking with confidence as jurist and as a person who received the summons."
The summons appeared to be an official legal document issued by the clerk of the Pretoria Magistrate's Court.
On Tuesday, the NPA said a summons for Jiba to appear in court on charges of fraud and perjury was handed to Nxasana, after she could not be found at the NPA offices.
It required her to appear in the Pretoria Regional Court on April 21.
Nxasana said the summons was delivered by "a high-ranking police official, a Lt-Col Botes".
On Wednesday, Phiyega's spokesman Lt-Gen Solomon Makgale denied they were looking for Jiba, and said no summons had been issued.
"It is worth mentioning that the issuing of the summons was not done in consultation with the SAPS's investigating officer," he said at the time.
The charges against Jiba relate to her failed bid to lay murder and racketeering charges against suspended KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head Maj-Gen Johan Booysen.
