Peters condemns taxi violence
Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile
Four people were killed this week in incidents involving taxi associations allegedly fighting over routes.
On Wednesday a driver was reportedly beaten with knobkerries by other drivers.
He was then run over by a taxi before being dragged nearly a kilometre in Hyde Park.
Peters called on leaders of affected taxi associations to convene and find an amicable solution to whatever might be at the centre of the disagreements.
“Law enforcement officers need to get to the bottom of these incidents and bring those responsible to book,” she said in a statement.
The Transport Department says they are waiting a full report on the taxi rivalry to decide on a way forward.
