SAMA 20 organiser RISA – the Recording Industry of South Africa – have released an appetizer of what audiences can expect to see during the live broadcast of the main awards ceremony. It will be aired from 20h30 on SABC1 on Monday, 28 April 2014.

Beamed live to your living rooms from the Sun City Superbowl, the SAMA 20 ceremony will pulse with an unforgettable performance by comeback kids Mafikizolo. The popular duo is nominated for an incredible six SAMAs this year – including two nods in the hotly contested Kia Record of the Year category.

Also bringing his A-game on stage on award night will be DJ Kent, who is another frontrunner with five SAMA 20 nominations, two of which are for Kia Record of the Year. He’ll be bringing the house down as part of a dance hit mega mash-up collaboration with Danny K and Heavy K featuring Mpumi.

Viewers – as well as members of the public who purchase tickets at Computicket to attend the swanky awards ceremony in person – will also be treated to pulse-racing solo performances by rapper iFani and three-time nominee Uhuru.

And in a dynamic rock/soul collaboration that’s sure to be gooseflesh-inducing, look out for performances by Gangs of Ballet and newcomer Naima Kay, who boast an astounding nine nominations between them.

This is just a taste of the sensational performances that audiences will witness on the night, courtesy of a cross-section of SAMA 20 nominees.

But the celebrities presenting awards are likely to generate almost as much buzz as the performers: the likes of Vusi Nova, Lulo Café, Khan Morbee, Jabu Hlongwane, Yvonne Chaka Chaka and Selaelo Selota will be stepping up to the mic to introduce the various categories and nominees.

Don’t forget that the entire SAMA 20 proceedings will be streamed live on www.samatv.mobi & www.facebook.com/sSAMusicAwards, including the industry awards ceremony earlier in the day, MC’d by TV presenter, actress and DJ Pearl Modiadie.
