"She will know her sentence on September 16," Gauteng traffic police spokeswoman Busaphi Nxumalo said in a statement.

The 19-year-old woman was arrested on the night of April 5, two days after her 16-month-old boy narrowly escaped being hit by a truck while walking along the N1 highway, near the Grasmere off-ramp.

She pleaded guilty to both charges and was previously granted R500 bail.
