World panics as Facebook servers interrupted following alleged hack

An awkward silence dawned across the globe for an hour this morning as humans were forced to communicate in person following a Facebook service interruption.

"One moment it was there, and then it just... stopped working. The only thing my comfortable Facebook - blue screen showed was: 'Oops! Something went wrong', no matter how many times I tried to reload the page.

I went from a moment of mild frustration to full blown panic as I looked across the office and my co-workers were (gasp) looking up at me too! I would have to actually... do work, or even worse - talk to them!"

This is the scenario that took place for just under an hour this morning and sent the eastern hemisphere of the world into a mild state of shock.

The occurence even began trending on twitter with the #FacebookDown hashtag.

Social media site Instagram was also affected by the alleged hack, the online media Group Lizard Squad claimed responsibility for the down time that took place at around 6am GMT across the social media giants' platforms which connect 1.5 billion users each day.

In a typical show of force, Facebook's cronies have not released any reason for the downtime on their servers. This is either because they are still working out what happened, or becuase they are still fast asleep. It is, like, 1am in California right now.
