What's for breakfast?
The Complimentary Breakfast is served up by Rian van Heerden weekdays between 6 and 10am exclusive to Jacaranda FM. This is no straight forward 2 eggs on toast kind of meal – always delivering something you’ve NEVER heard before, this is the one meal you do not want to miss!
Fight for your Flashback, Monday to Friday, 06:15 – We ask you to nominate a song from the past that you would like to hear in order to kick start your day. This is done via phonecalls, Facebook, sms or email. Each team member gets to champion a song and help Fight for your Flashback, by asking our listeners to click through to the Complimentary Breakfast Blog and vote for the one they would like to hear. The song with the most votes is played every weekday at 06:15.
Kid Quiz, Monday to Friday, 06:45 - 3 Questions compiled by kids (10-12 year old) from different schools around our region. These questions can be anything from something that they learned in school to something that they read or Googled. It may even be toy/game/music related. Listeners phone in and try to answer all three questions in order to win a cash prize, R500 for each correct answer.
Mengelmoes Mix, 3 songs, 3 artists, one from the 80’s, 90’s and now. What makes this cash accumulator different, is that 10 seconds of each song is mixed over one another. If you can tell us what they are, we’ll gladly hand over a cash prize. We kick off with R1000 and it goes up by R1000 every time we get an incorrect answer. Listen closely and guess carefully, we only play it once per day.
5 Calls Says It All – A survey styled opportunity for listeners to call in with their opinions at 07:40. We ask the question for example “Is it ok for South African’s to support rugby teams from abroad instead of local unions?” The first 5 Calls will decide it all.
The Daily new bit, Monday to Friday at 08:15 - based on what’s relevant and entertaining in the news.
Kenmekaar, Monday to Friday at 08:45: This is based on the old veldschool activity where a personal question is asked an each member of the team needs to answer honestly. This can be anything from “What’s the weirdest thing you ever had in your fridge” to “did you ever steal anything?” This is a great opportunity for listeners to get to know the team and listeners themselves get the opportunity to phone in with their stories directly after the team’s answers. This is usually great fun
