Breakfast with Martin Bester listener tribute: Real-life hero passes away
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Breakfast with Martin Bester remembers a good friend and listener of the show.
Jon-Jon, who saved a 51-year-old male who was shot several times in an apparent attempted robbery while cycling, passed away on Tuesday.
He joined Martin Bester and the team in 2018 to explain how he was driving in the Cradle of Humankind area looking for new hiking spots with his friend, Alex.
The GPS navigated Jon-Jon to take a different route but he insisted he stayed on the route he knew.
By doing that, Jon-Jon came across a man on the side of the road. What sounded like a whisper, the shot cyclist called out, “Help me”.

He was deemed as a hero by the Jacaranda FM listeners and sadly friends and family lost a great man.
