Experts list the activities that put you at the highest risk of infection from Covid-19

As lockdown continues in South Africa, more and more business sectors are opening up. 

That said, how risky is it to sit at a restaurant or do your weekly shopping?

The Texas Medical Association’s coronavirus task force released a chart that lists common activities that could put you in danger. 

The task force says: “Every single outdoor activity is lower risk than anything indoors. People will have to decide what risk they think is reasonable for themselves and their families to take in order to live their lives.”

Low risk: 

Opening the mail

Getting takeaways at a restaurant

Playing tennis and camping 

Moderate to low-risk activities:

Grocery shopping

Going for a walk, a run in your neighbourhood

Staying at a hotel

Sitting at a doctor’s waiting room

Shopping at a mall

Moderate to high-risk activity:

Hair salon

Sitting down in a restaurant

Attending a funeral

Traveling by plane

High risk:

Eating at a buffet

Working out at a gym (not allowed in South Africa)

Attending a large music concert (not allowed in South Africa) 

Going to a bar
