In a voice note to his lawyer, Swart shared his experience of the incident.

"I think they hit me over the head, and they loaded me into a car, and I was in a boot for some time. They took me out and kicked me. I remember them saying they are going to break my hands or cut off my hands because I hit women. I didn't know where I was, and then they opened the boot and threw me out, so I don't know how they got to me."

Earlier in June, a video of Jaco Swart assaulting his wife at their family business went viral. Swart can be seen brutalising, pushing, punching, and kicking his estranged wife Nicoleen Swart in the 2018 video.

The video resurfaced after AfriForum's private prosecution unit released CCTV footage of the vicious attacks. The accused, Jaco Swart, pleaded guilty to charges of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH).
