One writer, Evan "Kidd" Bogart, recently revealed some interesting information about a Rihanna song.
Bogart was a songwriter with more experience writing rap songs when he wrote his first pop song for Rihanna's album, 'A Girl Like Me'.
It was the first pop song he ever wrote and on a recent podcast, 'Behind The Wall', he told host Daniel Wall that he had no idea what he was doing.
If you really look at how that song is written, it’s not written by anyone who knows anything about pop music. I was going off of instinct. If you look at the verses, they’re crafted with a lot of clever word play and internal rhyme schemes — like a rapper would.- Evan "Kidd" Bogart
