Animal rescue shelter facing hardship receives unexpected good news

After her husband's death, Glenda Pickering devoted her time and money to a cause close to her heart and founded Glenda's Dog Rescue. Good Morning Angels assisted Glenda's Dog Rescue with funds for much-needed essentials.

Glenda’s Dog Rescue is an animal rescue situated in Orange Farm.

It is one of the very few township dog rescues that serves the community 24/7.

They are a dedicated non-profit charity passionate about animal welfare and committed to rescuing, rehabilitating, and, where necessary, rehoming abandoned, abused, or neglected animals.

They provide food for 50 dogs in the community whose owners are unable to afford to feed them, as well as for their shelter animals. They also provide medical care, shelter, and, above all, love to vulnerable animals who have nowhere else to go.

Glenda’s Dog Rescue focuses on community engagement and education, promoting responsible pet ownership and providing support and resources to the local pet-owning community.

They rely solely on donations and support to do this work, leaving them in need of food, medical supplies, building materials, and other resources to continue their life-saving work in Orange Farm.

Any financial contributions will directly support:

  • Veterinary treatment and services
  • Daily feeding (R27 000 per month)
  • Sterilisation programs (They sterilise 16 animals a month @ R850/dog)
  • Community outreach and adoption programs
  • Building of kennels (They have built and delivered over 2,350 kennels to date)
  • They need a veterinary examination table, as well as a washing machine and tumble dryer, for all the dog blankets

Glenda's Dog Rescue" is an animal rescue situated in the township of Orange Farm and serves the community and their animals. As far as I am aware, other than the PDSA in Soweto, it is the only animal rescue that is actually in a township and serves the community 24/7 where possible. We are a dedicated non-profit charity with a PBO.

We focus on community engagement and education and strive to create a compassionate environment where every dog or cat has a second chance. We are committed to making a positive impact, promoting responsible pet ownership and providing support and resources to the local communities.

We are in need of sponsorship in the form of financial assistance, food donations, medical supplies, building materials such as bricks for our shelter and PVA as well as fencing and any other resources that will help us to continue our life saving work in the township, contributions will directly support:
