Assisting Lebogang Phaswana's drive to end period poverty
This Women’s Month, Jacaranda FM's Good Morning Angels brought women together to assist the TS Pad a Girl Foundation in its fight against period poverty.
This past Women’s Day, many celebrated the strides made over the past 70 years since the historic Women’s March on 9 August 1956.
However, many organisations and individuals also put a spotlight on the challenges women still face, such as period poverty.
One of those individuals is Lebogang Phaswana from Springs, founder of the TS Pad a Girl Foundation.
Lebogang held a sanitary pad collection drive and, on Women’s Day, distributed these basic necessities to girls and young women at an event at their local soccer club.

Lebogang understands the pressure young girls face as they navigate their education amid the costs associated with menstruation.
Many girls still have to miss school because they do not have access to sanitary towels, a challenge known as period poverty.
Lebogang has already lined up talks at two schools in Pretoria, where she is originally from, to educate schoolgirls on this journey and provide them with some assistance.
Lebogang reached out to Good Morning Angels to help her with this important mission.

My name is Lebogang Terciia Phaswana, and I'm the founder of the TS Pad a Girl Foundation.
I'm reaching out to ask if it would be possible to be featured in a radio interview to talk about our 2nd Annual Women's Month Pad a Girl Child Drive.
This year, our goal is to collect sanitary pads for 200 girls in Slovo Park, Springs, helping to ensure that no girl misses school or loses confidence because of period poverty.
