At just 30 Rebecca Phalane had to become a mom to seven children
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
After her mother passed away, Rebecca Phalane had to become a mom to seven children. Good Morning Angels brought together a group of Angels to support Rebecca.
Rebecca is a 30-year-old pre-primary school assistant. She has a very special way with children and loves her job.
However, Rebecca works and lives for her children. She has two daughters of her own, Solstice (7) and Joy (4).
Four years ago, she became the mom to her five younger siblings when her mother passed away.
So now, at a young age, Rebecca is a single mom to seven children.

ORIGINAL REQUEST:
Dear Good Morning Angels,
I am writing to ask for help for an extraordinary young woman named Rebecca, whom I have known for over ten years. She has lovingly cared for my grandchildren and has always been reliable, warm and deeply devoted.
Rebecca is only 30 years old, yet she carries the responsibility of raising seven children, her two daughters, Solstice and Joy, as well as her five younger siblings who were left in her care after their mother passed away.
She works full-time at a nursery school in Constantia Park, where she is appreciated for her dedication and kindness. However, on her small salary, it is incredibly difficult to support so many children. At times, Rebecca even sleeps on the floor at the school because she cannot afford taxi fare home, choosing instead to spend that money on food for the children.
School holidays are especially tough, as she struggles to earn enough to keep everyone fed and in school. Despite all of this, Rebecca remains strong, humble and full of love.
She has become the “village” her family needs, but now she needs a village too. I am hoping that Good Morning Angels, together with your listeners, can help bring stability and dignity to this young family.
The support that would make the greatest difference includes:
- Completing the small house Rebecca has been building for the children
- Food vouchers for a year to ensure no child goes hungry
- School uniforms and basic school supplies for all seven children
Thank you for considering her story. She truly deserves a helping hand.
Warm regards,
Veronica Coetzer
