R4-million in assistance for communities affected by floods in Limpopo and Mpumalanga
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
Project Flood Relief has raised R4-million in assistance for communities in flood-ravaged areas of Limpopo and Mpumalanga, which is being distributed by Gift of the Givers.
The donations for Jacaranda FM's Breakfast with Martin Bester and Good Morning Angels Project Flood Relief included tonnes of canned and dried food, baby supplies, toiletries, water and dog food, dropped off in Midrand, Mbombela, Polokwane and Tzaneen, as well as over R1-million in cash donations.
The distribution of donated flood relief essentials is underway in Limpopo and Mpumalanga.
Our team spent yesterday with Gift of the Givers and emergency personnel in the Mbaula village, outside Phalaborwa in Limpopo.
In Mpumalanga, items donated at the drop-off point in Mbombela, as well as a truckload of essentials dropped off at Jacaranda FM head office in Midrand, will be distributed to four areas from today (Wednesday).
The Gift of the Givers trucks are escorted by emergency services vehicles and personnel to ensure safe passage, as the teams navigate severely damaged road infrastructure and bridges.
