Her single mother, Girly, is her inspiration: "She carries the financial burden of supporting two children through private college education, ensuring that we have access to quality learning opportunities despite the challenges. Her resilience and sacrifices inspire me to work hard."

S’phesihle says her mother took out a study loan, but this has now been depleted and she is unable to take out another loan.

If she does not receive external funding, S’phesihle is unsure how she will fund her final year of studies and may have to put everything on hold.

Original Request

Dear Good Morning Angels,

My name is S’phesihle Thabethe, a third-year student at IIE Rosebank College, pursuing a Bachelor of Information Technology in Business Systems. My academic journey has been shaped by perseverance, ambition, and a deep passion for technology and its role in business innovation. Coming from a family where my single mother carries the financial responsibility of supporting two children in private education, I have witnessed the significance of hard work, resilience, and the transformative power of education.

Family Background and Circumstances

I come from a family led by my single mother, who has always been a pillar of strength in our lives. She carries the financial burden of supporting two children through private college education, ensuring that we have access to quality learning opportunities despite the challenges. Her resilience and sacrifices inspire me to work hard and pursue excellence, knowing that my education is not just a personal journey but a testament to her unwavering commitment.

Growing up, I witnessed first-hand the difficulties of managing financial constraints, which instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility and determination. I aim to alleviate some of the burden on my mother by securing this bursary, allowing me to focus on my studies without financial stress while paving the way for a better future for our family.

Achievements and Leadership Positions

Throughout my academic journey, I have consistently demonstrated dedication to excellence, earning notable achievements in my studies. As a second-year Bachelor of Information Technology in Business Systems student at IIE Rosebank College, I excelled in courses related to databases, web development, and programming logic and design.

My commitment to learning is reflected not only in my grades but also in my involvement in leadership roles. I have actively participated in student initiatives, assisting peers with academic matters and technology-related challenges. Through collaboration on projects with fellow students, I take pride in fostering an environment of support and knowledge-sharing. These experiences have strengthened my leadership skills and shaped me into someone who takes initiative, values teamwork, and inspires others to strive for success.

Personal Strengths and Weaknesses

One of my greatest strengths is my analytical thinking, which enables me to approach problems methodically and find effective solutions. I am highly adaptable and eager to learn new technologies — traits that are essential in the ever-evolving field of information technology. Additionally, I am disciplined and goal-oriented, ensuring that I complete tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards.

However, I acknowledge that I sometimes struggle to balance multiple responsibilities, as I tend to overcommit in my efforts to succeed. To overcome this, I actively work on time management and prioritisation, ensuring that I maintain both academic excellence and personal well-being. While perfectionism can sometimes be a challenge, I view it as an opportunity for growth, learning to embrace progress over flawlessness.

Choice of Study Programme and Career Aspirations

My decision to pursue a Bachelor of Information Technology in Business Systems stems from my passion for technology and its transformative impact on businesses. Since childhood, I have been fascinated by how digital solutions streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and drive innovation.

This programme allows me to harness my analytical skills and creativity to solve business challenges through technology. I aspire to become a database administrator or systems analyst, helping companies optimise their operations through technology-driven solutions. This bursary would greatly support my journey by allowing me to focus on developing my expertise while contributing to the broader technology sector.

Conclusion

I am eager to contribute to the ever-evolving IT sector and apply my knowledge to create impactful, meaningful change. With unwavering determination, I strive for excellence, leadership, and continuous growth, ensuring that my skills benefit both my community and the industry at large. I sincerely appreciate your consideration and the opportunity to pursue my dreams with financial support.
