We live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, but it is easy to take for granted what we see just about every other day.

Seeing places like Cape Town through the eyes of tourists is a great reminder that South Africa has the best sunsets and the most amazing landscapes.

Here's a look at what some of the Mother City's famous tourists have shared over the years.

Robert Irwin and Prince William

Prince William has been to South Africa on three official trips, including a 2024 visit to Cape Town for the Earthshot Prize Awards. Steve Irwin's son, Robert Irwin, interviewed the future king during a hike on Signal Hill. William noted that he was having a "lovely time" in South Africa, while Robert praised SA for being one of the "most amazing" countries for wildlife.

"Cape Town rules," Robert gushed. Of course, the 'Mother City' gave them a taste of her famous wind.

Ed Sheeran

English singer Ed Sheeran visited Cape Town during his 2019 'Divide Tour'. Before taking to the stage, he did a little sightseeing in the city.

"I went to read my book up Table Mountain today," he captioned a picture of himself enjoying Cape Town's amazing views.

Gabrielle Union

Actress Gabrielle Union has been to Cape Town on more than one occasion. She celebrated her 50th birthday at the Klein Goederust Boutique Winery in 2022. The 'Bring it On' actress returned to the Mother City this month to bury her father's ashes underneath the grapes they planted a few years ago.

Before heading back to America, Union shared a carousel of pictures highlighting all the things she loves about Cape Town:

  • Klein Goederust: The only black-owned winery in Cape Town. "Wonderful pwners who have become family to us."
  • Gorgeous beaches and sunsets.
  • The AKJP STUDIO fashion store, which sells all local designers.
  • Filming fun projects in the city.
  • Getting up close with Cape Town's famous penguins.
  • Thebe Magugu's concept store at Mount Nelson.

Viola Davis

Oscar-winner Viola Davis has spent many months in South Africa for both work and pleasure. She calls SA her second home and "God's playground". Davis celebrated her 58th birthday in Cape Town in 2023, and shared pictures of the amazing views - and her cake - from her accommodation.

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa visited Cape Town for the first time this year. She described it as a "fun work week with a few side quests". When she was not working, she was trying CT's amazing restaurants and sightseeing in Bo-Kaap and at Table Mountain.
