Senior citizens get free entry to Johannesburg Zoo this October
Updated | By Poelano Malema
October is the perfect time to spend some time outdoors, and if you’re 60 and above, you can enjoy free entry to the Johannesburg Zoo throughout the month.
Spring is officially underway in Johannesburg, the weather is warming up, and there are plenty of activities to enjoy across the city.
One of the nicest ways to spend the day is by visiting the Johannesburg Zoo, which is home to thousands of animals, plenty of greenery and lush gardens, as well as a range of activities for the whole family.
Senior Citizen Month offering
During the month of October, there is an extra treat for senior citizens.
Joburg City Parks and Zoo is celebrating Senior Citizen Month by offering free entry to visitors aged 60 and above for the entire month.
In an announcement made earlier this week, the Johannesburg Zoo said senior citizens can enjoy the offer by simply bringing their ID to prove that they are 60 years or older.
The usual entrance fee to the Johannesburg Zoo is R135, while pensioners normally pay R81. This means pensioners can save some money while enjoying a day out in nature.
With the school holidays also underway, this could be a great opportunity for grandparents to take the kids along for a fun day out, and you don’t have to rush home after seeing the animals. You can make it a full-day outing, with food, drinks and other activities available at the zoo.
So, if you’ve been looking for something fun to do with the family this October, the Johannesburg Zoo could be worth adding to your holiday plans.
The zoo is open every day from 08:30 – 17:30.
