Updated | By Lifestyle Reporter
The Tocka Blog's Avocado Ritz recipe is the perfect addition to your lunch table this festive season.
If your family loves seafood, then Avocado Ritz would make an excellent appetiser for your Christmas lunch menu.
Avocado Ritz is a South African favourite that has featured on local restaurant menus for decades. The dish is made with two of our favourite things: avocado and prawns (or shrimp).
Food blogger Landi Govender put a fancy twist on the recipe by making it in a coupe glass.
"Lunch felt a bit boujee today — Avocado Ritz in a coupe glass!" the food blogger said about the recipe. "So simple, but so festive."
Here's what you will need to make it.
- Lettuce
- Avocado
- Cherry tomatoes
- Steamed prawns
- Cocktail/seafood sauce

Govender's Avocado Ritz recipe was inspired by food content creator Dine with Tasha.
It's one of several Christmas recipes Tasha has shared on her page. She says Avocado Ritz is one of her favourite starters to serve during the holidays
"I always serve some variation of an Avocado Ritz as a starter at Christmas," she wrote on Instagram. "This one is made with the traditional Marie Rose sauce."
Tasha also adds habanero and pink peppercorns to her recipe, which she says is a must-try.
