Mariah Carey stuns in 'Type: Dangerous' lyric video
Updated | By Music Reporter
'This was unexpected and so good.' Mariah Carey is back with a bang!
Mariah Carey's new single, 'Type: Dangerous', is officially here.
The 56-year-old released her first solo single in years on Friday, June 6.
"I’ve been locked up in the studio for quite some time working my behind off on new music, and I’m thrilled for the unveiling of it to my fans, starting with ‘Type Dangerous’!” she told Pitchfork.
The 'Songbird Supreme' also shared a lyric video for the track, which fans already call the song of the year.
"Lookin' for the dangerous type/ I like 'em dangerous/ I'm lookin' for the dangerous type/ I said I like 'em dangerous," she sings.
It is clear from the lyrics that Carey, who was previously married to Tommy Mottola and Nick Cannon, is looking to have fun with a dangerous type rather than settle down.
"They wanna settle down but I just don't trust 'em/ They wanna lock me down, but there's no handcuffin'/ Said we'd be together, but you didn't stay forever/ Now I guess it's just whatever 'til the twelfth of never."
The singer's fans hope that her new single is a sign that her 16th studio album, dubbed 'MC16', is on the way.
"As a lamb of MANY years, I think this song is soooooooo fresh and different!!! WOW! I cannot waiiittttt for MC16," one of her fans commented on YouTube.
Another fan wrote: "I must say seven years later, this was 100% worth the wait. We survived the Mariah drought 😭 .The production, lyricism, vocals, visuals?! Ateeee!"
The last time the Grammy Award winner released a studio album was 'Caution' in 2018.
Carey has not officially announced her new album, but fans expect news any day now.
