Motorists urged to avoid using cards at toll plazas
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
As the festive season looms - the N3 Toll Concession is reminding motorists to avoid paying with bank cards at toll plazas to reduce their chances of becoming victims of card-cloning.
Last month, a toll collector was arrested along with an accomplice - after a motorists' card was cloned at the Tugela Toll Plaza.
The N3TC says motorists should consider e-tags - as they are safer.
Spokesperson Con Roux says cash is another method - but they don't encourage it.
"There have been no follow-up card cloning allegations made in relation to the plaza. And we are doing everything in our power to ensure there's no repeat whatsoever. A tag allows for convenient passage through a plaza, without the need for a card, and therefore the risk is completely eliminated," he said.
