Solidarity's Dirk Hermann said judgement will now be delivered in Cape Town on Tuesday.

"The judge himself does service in Cape Town from tomorrow and he decided to deliver the judgement at the place where he will be the judge," Hermann said.

The Labour Court is expected to rule on an application to set aside their dismissals.

Last week lawyers for the SABC and the trade union solidarity squared off in court. In total, eight reporters were fired for challenging a ban on the broadcast of violent protests a ban which has since been declared invalid.

The SABC's Themba Skosana said the journalists had breached their contacts with their public comments against the public broadcaster's editorial decisions.

But Solidarity's Steven Budlender argued the SABC's actions amounted to bullying. He said the journalists were fired because they criticised the protest policy, and SABC management.
