Former Wits SRC president and Fees Must Fall leader Shaeera
Kalla has been discharged from hospital.
She had been shot in the back with rubber bullets, when police attempted to disperse a group of protesting students at Wits University last Thursday.
In a Facebook post, Kalla confirmed she had been shot 13 times in the back, at very close range.
She spent three days in hospital following the incident.

Former Wits SRC President and friend Shafee Verachia says Kalla is still in a lot of pain.
“A lot of the wounds are open and are taking a while to heal,” he says.
Verachia says the medical team was concerned about a bullet wound Kalla had sustained close to her spine.
“The bruising around that area is recovering. The doctors are confident she will recover fully. She remains committed to the fight for free quality and decolonised education,” he says.
