Thousands of DA supporters stream into Dobsonville Stadium
Updated | By Slindelo Masikane
Thousands of DA supporters have descended on the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto for the party's final rally ahead of the local government election next week.
The official opposition is eying three of the most-hotly contested metros including Johannesburg, Tshwane and the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality in the Eastern Cape.
Supporters have been bussed into Soweto all clad in their party regalia.
They are chanting: "Vote DA. Vote for change. Down with Jacob Zuma."
The venue has significant meaning to the party, as Dobsonville is the township where DA leader Mmusi Maimane grew up.
He is due to speak at the rally.
Supporters were entertained by local artists.
The official programme started at noon.
This first time voter explains why he will make his mark in the upcoming election.
