Hot and humid weather will result in extremely uncomfortable conditions in the Lowveld of Mpumalanga.


A heat wave with persistently high temperatures is expected in Gauteng, North-West and the western Bushveld of Limpopo from Friday, until at least Monday.


Gauteng: Hot in the north, otherwise fine and warm becoming partly cloudy with afternoon isolated showers and thundershowers.

Mpumalanga: Cloudy along the northern escarpment at first with morning fog patches in places, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers except in the Lowveld where it will be very hot in places.

Limpopo: Cloudy in places at first with morning fog patches in places over the escarpment, otherwise fine and hot but very hot in places in the Lowveld, Limpopo Valley, and Western Bushveld. It will become partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated thundershowers in the southern and western parts.

North West: Very hot in the west, otherwise fine and hot, becoming partly cloudy with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers in the east.

Free State: Fine and warm to hot but partly cloudy in the northeast with isolated showers and thundershowers in the afternoon.

Northern Cape: Cloudy along the coast at first with morning fog patches where it will be cool, otherwise fine and warm but hot to very hot in the north and north-east.

Western Cape: Cloudy in the west at first with fog patches along the north-west coast, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but fine in the north-eastern interior where it will be hot. It will be cool along the south coast becoming cloudy in the evening with rain along the south coast overnight.

Eastern Cape: Fine and warm, but hot in places over the interior. It will become cloudy along the coast in the evening, spreading inland overnight. The wind along the coast will be moderate north-easterly becoming fresh south westerly in the afternoon.

KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with isolated afternoon showers and thundershowers in the west and isolated showers along the south coast.
