Updated | By Trevor Cramer
Team South Africa left for the Rio 2016 Paralympics on Wednesday evening.
They were seen off by a small group of well-wishers, family and friends as they made their way into the departure area at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg.
There were also chants of the ever familiar Shosholoza as they were serenaded by a group of enthusiastic SAA ground staff.
Team SA Paralympic athlete Ilse Hayes, will be competing in her fourth Paralympics.
Trevor Cramer caught up with her ahead of the team's departure for Rio on Wednesday evening.
The athletes took a few minutes to pose for photos and interact with their supporters.
