Adele's 2011 album '21' is the best-selling album of the 21st century, with over 31 million copies sold worldwide. 

It topped charts in over 30 countries and was the best-selling album of the year for 2011 and 2012, helping revitalise the global music industry.

'21' spent 23 weeks at number one on the UK Albums Chart, making it the longest-running chart-topper by a female solo artist in United Kingdom history. 

In the United States, it became the highest-performing album ever on the Billboard 200, holding the number-one spot for 24 weeks - the longest run since 1985 and the longest for a female solo artist in the chart’s history. 

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) awarded it a Diamond certification for selling over 10 million copies in the U.S. Globally, three of the album's singles - 'Rolling in the Deep,' 'Someone Like You,' and 'Set Fire to the Rain'.

Celebrated for its minimalist production, retro feel, and Adele's powerful vocals, the album was nominated for the 2011 Mercury Prize and went on to win both the 2012 Grammy for Album of the Year and the Brit Award for British Album of the Year. 

It has also earned a place on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time and is featured in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

After 14 years, the album is still making history.
