Kelly Clarkson ends talk show to "prioritise kids"
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
The former 'American Idol' winner has stepped down from her show months after her children lost their father.
The current season of 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' will be the last.
Clarkson made the announcement in a shocking statement shared on social media.
"I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,' both in Los Angeles and New York,” the singer wrote.
"There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons. I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for."
The 43-year-old says it was "not an easy decision" to leave the show, which has won 24 Daytime Emmy Awards since its 2019 debut, including the best talk show award.
"Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives," Clarkson continued.
The 'Since U Been Gone' singer's children, River Rose and Remington Alexander, have been mourning the loss of their father.
Clarkson's ex-husband, talent manager Brandon Blackstock, died in August 2025 following a private battle with cancer.
"This isn't goodbye. I'll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you might catch me on The Voice from time to time... You never know where I might show up next," she said.
Clarkson's children have appeared on her talk show several times in the past, including a sweet moment when her son, Remington, performed Frank Sinatra's 'My Way'.
River Rose also stole the show when she worked as a "mini producer".
Last month, Clarkson shared an update on how her children are doing during a YouTube Q&A shared on YouTube.
"There’s been a lot for our family recently, and so I have allowed my kids to sleep with me quite a bit. It’s my two dogs, my two kids and me. It’s a lot. It’s been really special, though, because the conversations you have during that time are pretty cute. So that’s probably my favourite time of day," she said.
Season seven of 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' will continue until later this year. Special guest hosts will also be announced.
