Demi-Leigh Tebow reflects on the early days of motherhood
Eight months into motherhood, the former Miss South Africa winner says she is still "figuring it out day by day".
South African beauty queen Demi-Leigh Tebow (née Nel-Peters) has shared a new video of the moment she brought her daughter home for the first time.
The 30-year-old, who hails from Sedgefield in the Western Cape, and her husband, retired American football star Tim Tebow, welcomed their first child, Daphne Reign, in July 2025.
"I remember looking at Tim when we got home and asking each other, 'Alright, what’s next?'" she said captioned a clip of their first moments with their baby girl.
The footage shows Demi-Leigh and Tim leaving the hospital with Daphne in a car seat.
"Driving home for the first time, I took a video of Tim's hands on the steering wheel like - he was holding onto that thing for dear life."
Demi-Leigh says it is the slowest she has ever seen her husband drive. "[He] checked like four times before he'd cross any lanes."
Even walking into their home for the first time as a family of three felt like a big moment for the couple.
"It is that overwhelming responsibility that you feel, not just for yourself or your partner but for another tiny human being."
The author says a lot has changed since then, and they have grown so much as parents, but are still learning.
"We’re still figuring it out day by day, but watching her grow into her personality has been the greatest joy. She’s our happy girl, and we are so grateful!
Demi-Leigh moved to America shortly after being crowned Miss Universe 2017, and remained in the country after meeting Tim.
They confirmed they were dating in July 2018 and met each other's families a few months later. The lovebirds got engaged in January 2020 and walked down the aisle one year later at the La Paris Estate in Cape Town.
The Tebow family are based in Jacksonville, Florida, where the pair bought a $3-million mansion several months after their wedding.
"I’ve loved you for 8 years, dreamt of forever with you for 7 years, and lived life with you for 6 years. We’re a stronger team now than ever before. Parenting with you is my favourite version of us yet! I love you!" Demi-Leigh wrote on their recent wedding anniversary.
