Dodo Nyoka celebrates 'Jannaman' hitting 1.8 million YouTube streams
Musician Dodo Nyoka has taken to social media to celebrate the success of 'Jannaman' which has reached 1.8 million streams on YouTube.
Dodo Nyoka continues to take the African version of country music to greater heights. The DRC-born, Eastern Cape-raised musician is celebrating a major milestone after his 2025 single, ‘Jannaman’, reached 1.8 million views on YouTube.
The music video, which was uploaded on August 29, 2025, has been praised as a banger.
Taking to social media on Thursday, Dodo shared a short snippet of the song, highlighting the growth of African country music. In the clip, the singer can be seen dancing and singing, joined by a group of 'country' men who join in the fun.
Dodo has consistently used his music to bring people from different cultures together. His Instagram bio reads: “I never fit in the world, and then I realised I was made to create a place where everyone can belong.”
That message is reflected in his music, which continues to cross cultural and racial boundaries and bring people together through a shared love of music.
Dodo first rose to fame after becoming a runner-up on the popular talent competition 'Die Kontrak' in 2022. Following his breakthrough, he went on to pursue music professionally, with his debut single, ‘Foto's’, eventually surpassing four million views on YouTube.
Since then, the singer has continued to create music that challenges boundaries and introduces African audiences to his unique take on country music.
Dodo previously told Breakfast with Martin Bester about his journey. He shared that music had been a source of healing for him, particularly as he navigated challenges in his past, including speech impairment.
Through singing, Dodo found a way to overcome some of those challenges and express himself. His journey has since taken him beyond South Africa, with the musician performing internationally, including in Nashville, a city widely regarded as the heart of country music.
‘Jannaman’ also carries a deeply personal meaning for Dodo. The singer previously revealed that he created the song as a tribute to his father, adding another layer of meaning to the track’s growing success.
