Ella Mai wows South Africa with R&B hits

South Africans were 'Boo'd Up' with one of the world's most loved R&B stars.
British singer-songwriter Ella Mai touched down in South Africa a few days ago for two memorable shows.
The 31-year-old performed at the Sun City Superbowl on Saturday, April 25, and GrandWest Cape Town on Sunday, April 26.
Mai, known for hits such as 'Boo'd Up', ‘Trip’, and ‘Not Another Love Song’, was pictured arriving at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg ahead of the concerts.
She looked comfy in a beige hoodie, green bomber jacket and a camouflage cap.
Mai disappeared from the spotlight until show night, and it was worth the wait.
She performed for over an hour at both shows. Mai’s Sun City concert featured some of SA’s top music talent, including rapper Nasty C.
Sjava, Uncle Waffles, DJ Maphorisa, Kabza De Small and Zee Nxumalo also made appearances.
“Last night was fire,” one fan said after the show. “Let’s do this again soon, girl,” another fan added.
A third person said: “What a performer. When is she coming back.”
The Cape Town show was just as “fire”. Mai performed some of the songs from her latest album, ‘Do You Still Love Me?’
“So, Cape Town, if we do some new songs for you, are you going to know what we’re singing?” Mai asked.
She got a loud “yes” from the audience. Mai then performed songs such as ‘Somebody’s Son’, ‘100’ and ‘Little Things.
Keeping to their word, Cape Town concertgoers sang along to their favourite jams. “Wow,” a shocked Mai said.
Social media users could not stop singing her praises after the show. “Best night of my life! We love you,” a Cape Town fan wrote on Instagram.
Another fan added: “Sang my heart out. She deserves her flowers.”
South Africans who missed out are hoping the Grammy Award-winner will be in the near future.
For now, she’s heading back to America to prepare for the ‘Do You Still Love Me?’ tour, which starts in July.
She has 27 shows planned for the North American tour, including one stop in Toronto, Canada.
Mai will then travel across the UK and parts of Europe for the next leg of the tour.
She will visit cities in Denmark, France, Sweden, Germany, Ireland and the UK.
