Mia le Roux made history on Saturday when she was crowned as the first deaf Miss South Africa.
On Saturday, the judging panel of former Miss South Africa Jo-Ann Strauss, actress Leandie du Randt, Miss World Rolene Strauss, radio personality Lerato Kganyago and actress Thembi Seete came together at SunBet Arena, Time Square to judge the final Top 10 Miss South Africa 2024 finalists.
The host; media mogul and businesswoman, Bonang Matheba, crowned Mia le Roux as the brand new Miss South Africa 2024.
- Mia le Roux is 28 years old.
- She was born in Sasolburg, Free State and raised in Oudtshoorn in the Western Cape.
- She is a marketing manager, model, and part-time B Com Marketing student.
- She was diagnosed with profound hearing loss at the age of one and says her community rallied behind her to give her the gift of hearing; inspiring her desire to make a positive impact and break barriers.
- She will be the first contestant at the Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico with such a disability to take part in the competition.
