Podcaster Jay Shetty has taken to social media to reflect on his emotional interview with Hayden Panettiere, sharing what the actress told him after their conversation earlier this year.
As the world continues to come to terms with the death of actress Hayden Panettiere, podcaster Jay Shetty has taken to social media to reflect on their emotional interview months before her passing.
Panettiere died on Sunday at the age of 36.
Shetty said he was devastated and heartbroken, revealing that he had spent the past day processing her legacy and their loss.
"I'm in shock and have been processing for the past day on your legacy and our loss. Just a few months ago, I had the privilege of sitting down with you on On Purpose," he wrote.
Panettiere appeared on Shetty’s podcast in May to promote her memoir, 'This Is Me: A Reckoning'. During the interview, which has since gone viral, the actress opened up about some of the most private and difficult experiences of her life.
Panettiere also opened up about the loss of her younger brother, who died in 2023, and the emotional impact. She spoke about becoming a star at a young age and navigating adulthood while growing up in the public eye.
The actress also discussed her experience with postpartum depression and addiction. She spoke fondly about her daughter Kaya, who lives with her father, former professional boxer Wladimir Klitschko.
During the interview, Panettiere further reflected on healing after experiencing abusive relationships, her strained relationship with her mother and some of the darker experiences she faced while working in the entertainment industry.
Shetty took to Instagram on Wednesday to reveal that after the interview, Panettiere told him she felt healed.
"After the episode, you told me it was truly healing. You said I was now like a big brother to you and that I helped you be brave," he wrote.
Shetty commended Panettiere for being the brave one.
"You were the brave one. You were courageous, resilient, and so incredibly strong through so many difficult moments in your life. You should never have had to experience the things you did," he wrote.
He went on to reflect on the impact Panettiere had on others, particularly through her willingness to be vulnerable and speak openly about her experiences.
"I hope you know how loved you are. How many people you helped. How your vulnerability moved others," Shetty wrote.
"Thank you for trusting me and my community with your truth, story and legacy. We will honor you always."
Shetty ended his tribute by sending his heart and prayers to Panettiere's daughter, family, friends and fans.
"Rest in peace, Hayden," he wrote.
