Singer Kelly Osbourne's mother says "she can't eat right now" because she is grieving her late father, Ozzy Osbourne.

Sharon Osbourne came to her daughter's defence after social media users made "disgusting" comments about her recent weight loss.

Scores of social media users left comments on one of Kelly's recent Instagram posts. "Eat the cookie!" one person commented. Another user said, "Please gain some weight back."

Internet users have been discussing her weight for years, but the discussion has escalated in recent months. Some have shared before-and-after pictures of the 41-year-old.

A visibly upset Kelly slammed the critics for the "horrible, mean, and brutal" remarks in a series of videos shared on her Instagram Stories.

"What do you expect from me? What do you expect me to look like right now? The fact that I'm getting out of bed and facing my life and trying should be more than enough," she said.

It has been nearly five months since rock legend Ozzy died. The Black Sabbath frontman passed away in July at the age of 76.

The 'War Pigs' singer, who suffered from coronary artery disease and Parkinson's disease, had a heart attack.

"You say that I look ill. Well, I am ill right now. My life is completely flipped upside down," Kelly said.

Sharon came to her daughter's defence during a sit-down interview on the 'Piers Morgan Uncensored' show.

Morgan played a clip of Kelly reacting to comments about her looks in a separate video shared on social media.

"To the people who keep thinking that they're being funny and mean by writing comments like, 'Are you ill', or 'Get off Ozempic', or ‘You don't look right', my dad just died, and I'm doing the best that I can," she said in the clip.

"And the only thing I have to live for right now is my family and I choose to share my content with you and share the happy side of my life, not the miserable side of my life. So to all those people, f**k off."

Morgan praised Kelly for clapping back at the negative remarks "like a classic Osbourne". Sharon agreed.

"She's lost her daddy. She can't eat right now."
